March 2022 Minutes

As noted in last month’s report, the dry stone wall which extends into the field, close to and parallel with the southern garden fence of 39 Glen Rd, has significantly deteriorated, particularly a one metre stretch from the rear garden fence of number 37 Glen Rd. This awaits a detailed inspection and proposals for possible remedial work.

20.Councillors’ verbal reports
Cllr McLaughlin said that the national grid refurbishment scheme had started in the area and should be completed by the end of July. Signs had been displayed and no road closures will be necessary. A lot of activity was taking place with scaffolding installed near the towers/pylons, some of which being located within the proposed Mallard Pass.
Cllr Hayward said that cars parked in the High Street opposite the doctor’s surgery had been hit by passing traffic; Cllr McLaughlin will check land ownership. The parish council had applied for a parking area to be created at that location several years ago; a site visit was carried out by an LCC representative, but the request had been refused due to the presence of an electricity pylon.
Cllr McLaughlin was waiting for a reply from SKDC for permission to install a memorial bench for Pat Bowles purchased by Anything Goes; Cllr Brooman advised to wait until permission was granted before installing the bench.
Cllr McLaughlin will find out the name of the suppliers for the new fencing to be installed by the stream in Glen Road by the Environment Agency so that the parish council can install matching fencing by the pond.
