The notes of the meeting held on 16 August 2023 were approved as minutes and signed by the Chairman. Proposed by Cllr Goode, seconded by Cllr Lee, all in favour.
- Matters arising - Michael Wright’s memorial woods
The Councillors will liaise with Michael Wright’s family regarding the installation of a bench in Michael’s memory at the playing field.

- Planning issues - verbal report from the Planning Working Group
Cllr Goode said that the Planning Working Group had no comments on applications S23/1475 and S23/1532. A planning application for a plot on Morkery Lane had been listed on the weekly list from SKDC but the Parish Council had not been formally notified – clerk to contact District Cllr P Robins.
The following applications were granted planning permission by SKDC:
S23/1371 – The Barns, 2 Holywell Road; S23/1428 and S23/1430 for tree work at 4 Water Lane – the Councillors suggested asking residents who receive planning permission to remove a tree whether they would consider planting a replacement.
- Planning. A) S23/1475 - Mrs Angela Davis, Stoneybrook Cottage, 12 water Lane, Castle Bytham; alterations to change roof from mono-pitched to dual pitch, remove window at rear ground floor, insertion of window at side ground floor. Remove existing front window and replace with external door. Installation of rooflights and solar panels on roof. The Councillors had no comments on this application. B) S23/1532 - Mrs Susan Evans, Oak House, Holywell Road, Castle Bytham; single storey extension to rear, two windows in front elevation. The Councillors had no comments on this application.

- Amenities Working Group report - playing field annual safety inspection report; tree survey quotes; replacement upper green handrail and brackets quotes; cemetery water carrier quotes
Online Playground carried out the annual safety inspection of the playing field and sent their report; a working party will carry out repairs. Three quotes for a tree survey were received – Peace Arboriculture who carry out surveys on behalf of Woodcraft were chosen unanimously; the cost will be £545. The £183 cost of rail and bracket replacement for the upper green steps was unanimously approved. The total £53.77 cost for providing a water supply at the cemetery includes a base for the water butt which was donated by Trevor and Angela Harris and a 50 litre wheelbarrow water carrier was unanimously approved. Cllr Hayward was looking for contractors for a 25 hour mowing schedule for all areas excluding the playing field. Clerk to write to owner of Albemarle Cottage regarding its overgrown hedge.

- Burial Committee matters - memorial application
The Councillors voted unanimously in favour of a memorial application from GH Linnells Monumental masons.
- Request for financial assistance for the children’s Christmas Party
The Councillors voted unanimously on a £125 grant towards the children’s Christmas Party. Proposed by Cllr McLaughlin, seconded by Cllr Goode.

The Councillors voted unanimously on a £400 grant for Glenside News. Proposed by Cllr Brooman, seconded by Cllr McLaughlin, all in favour.

Cllr McLaughlin will complete SKDC’s housing survey. Cllr McLaughlin suggested checking all grit bins and ask LCC for refills where necessary.
Cllr Harward said that the Church Lane street light was not effective due to the tree branches obscuring it.
Cllr Brooman suggested organising another Advent window decorations trail this year; Cllr Goode will write the Parish Council’s article for the November issue of Glenside News and make mention of the trail.
